SA Cyclist Deaths Reach Highest Level in More Than 30 Years
Nine bicycle and e-bike riders have been killed on South Australian roads so far in 2026 — already the highest annual total recorded in at least three decades. The RAA says eight cyclists and one e-bike rider have lost their lives, with five deaths occurring in regional SA and four in metropolitan Adelaide. Motorcyclist deaths have also risen sharply, with 14 riders killed this year compared with five at the same point in 2025.
7 News Adelaide Found to Have Breached Child Privacy Rules
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has found Channel Seven Adelaide breached broadcasting rules relating to privacy and distressing content in a report involving a child. The ACMA found that while the child's face was blurred, other details shown in the broadcast could have allowed the child to be identified, particularly within their local and school communities. The regulator is now considering what enforcement action to take.
14-Year-Old Arrested After Alleged Stolen Car Pursuit Through Adelaide's North
A 14-year-old Elizabeth Park boy has been charged after an allegedly stolen Volkswagen was tracked through Adelaide's northern suburbs overnight. Police allege the vehicle travelled at speed, drove on the wrong side of the road and went through a red light before stopping at Elizabeth Grove. The teenager was arrested after allegedly attempting to run from the vehicle and is due to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court today. No injuries or crashes were reported.
Teen Arrested After Machete Allegedly Found at Salisbury Interchange
Police have charged a 16-year-old boy after allegedly finding a machete during a high-visibility operation at Salisbury Interchange. Officers conducted 19 metal detector searches during Wednesday night's operation and also reported a 34-year-old Adelaide man after allegedly finding a Stanley knife. Police say operations targeting antisocial behaviour on the public transport network will continue.
Major Drug Seizures During Mid North Highway Operation
Three men have been charged following two separate alleged drug detections on South Australia's declared drug transit routes. Police say 32 grams of cocaine were found during a stop on the Augusta Highway at Warnertown, while a separate search near Oodla Wirra allegedly uncovered about 250 grams of ecstasy, cocaine, methamphetamine and almost $7,000 in cash. Two NSW men were refused police bail and were due to face the Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
Antisocial Behaviour Targeted on Southern Adelaide Bus Routes
South Australia Police and Adelaide Metro have carried out another operation targeting antisocial behaviour across bus routes in Adelaide's southern suburbs. Police conducted 20 metal detector searches, issued 23 expiation notices and arrested two men over outstanding matters. Nine passengers were also spoken to about alleged fare evasion.
Belair Train Line Night Closures Begin Tonight
Passengers using the Belair rail line are being warned of disruptions beginning tonight. The line will partially close between Adelaide Railway Station and Mitcham from 8:45pm, with additional night closures scheduled over the coming week for works associated with the new Women's and Children's Hospital project. Full-day closures are also planned for Saturday and Sunday.
Adelaide Road Rage Video Prompts Antisemitism Concerns
SA Police are encouraging those involved in an alleged antisemitic road rage incident in Adelaide's CBD to make a formal report. Video released by the Anti Defamation Commission shows a man allegedly directing antisemitic abuse at people in another vehicle on Hutt Street. The commission says one of those targeted was a Jewish woman visiting Adelaide from Melbourne. Police say they had not received a formal complaint when the story emerged and encouraged the footage owner to contact investigators.
