A large structure fire broke out earlier today at a waste transfer facility in Port Lincoln, prompting a response from firefighters from both the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) and the Country Fire Service (CFS).

Emergency services were called to the facility on Hassell Street at approximately 1:05pm on Monday, 9 March 2026.

On arrival, crews found a large shed measuring approximately 50 by 50 metres fully involved in fire. A total of 12 MFS firefighters from three appliances, supported by two CFS appliances, responded to the incident.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, with authorities confirming the fire has now been contained to the shed and the immediate surrounding area.

No injuries have been reported.

A smoke advice has been issued for the Port Lincoln area due to smoke generated by the fire.

Residents in the area are advised to remain indoors, close windows and doors, and switch off air vents to minimise smoke exposure.

Emergency services continue to monitor the situation.
