Generation X isn’t simply about putting old songs back on the radio.

Music has a way of connecting itself to moments in our lives.

A particular track can take you straight back to school, a first car, a night out, a holiday, a relationship, a concert or a time when life looked completely different.

Throughout Generation X, the music is mixed with stories, memories and the occasional look back at the culture surrounding the songs.

From Vinyl to Cassettes, CDs and Beyond

Generation X lived through some fairly dramatic changes in the way we listened to music.

There were vinyl records and cassettes.

Then came CDs, portable players and the carefully constructed mixtape.

Eventually, MP3s arrived and suddenly thousands of songs could fit in your pocket.

Generation X celebrates the music that travelled through all of it.

It’s two hours for anyone who remembers waiting beside the radio to record a favourite song, carefully making a mixtape or spending far too long browsing through CDs at a music store.
