It may seem peaceful now, but strong winds are already sweeping across South Australia with raised dust reported in multiple regions. Conditions are expected to rapidly worsen.

Severe Weather Warning

for DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS

For people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of West Coast, North East Pastoral and North West Pastoral districts.

DAMAGING, POSSIBLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS DEVELOPING OVER SOUTH AUSTRALIA THIS EVENING.

A vigorous cold front is approaching SA and will cross the coast tonight.

Winds averaging 60–70 km/h with gusts up to 110 km/h are possible in western and southern coastal areas this evening, spreading inland by Monday.

Locally DESTRUCTIVE WIND GUSTS over 125 km/h may cause significant damage between the western Eyre Peninsula and the Victoria border Monday morning.

Dry soils increase the risk of fallen trees.

Winds are expected to ease late Monday into Tuesday morning.

  • Keep clear of fallen power lines
  • Move vehicles away from trees
  • Secure loose items around your home

Affected locations include: Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Renmark, Mount Gambier, Ceduna, Murray Bridge, Kingscote and Naracoorte.
